Cabinet to go on third retreat

2012-10-12 09:03:17 | (0 Comments)

With Cabinet members set to go on retreat next week, Opposition leader, Andrew Holness, is urging the group to focus the discussions on crime, the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and energy.

The retreat will be the third for the 10-month-old Portia Simpson Miller-chaired Cabinet.

Well-placed Government sources say an agenda for the retreat has not yet been signed off on.

However, Holness said while he cannot tell the government how to conduct its business, he hopes the IMF talks, energy and crime will take centre stage.

With Regard to energy, Holness said he is not convinced that a totally private sector-led energy solution is the best route.

The government recently announced it is turning over its liquified natural gas project to the Jamaica Public Service Company.
