The police are still on the hunt for a fourth suspect in this morning’s robbery and shootout in Downs, Manchester which left a policeman nursing a shooting injury.

Three men were arrested in the incident, but a fourth man is still on the run.
The Manchester police report that the men broke into a mini-mart in the community minutes after 3 a.m. When the lawmen arrived, the men engaged them in a shootout during which one of the policemen was shot in the foot. He was taken to hospital where his condition is being treated as serious.

The cops held one of the men as he attempted to flee in a van with some of the stolen goods; while two other men were nabbed by the police in the Spur Tree area of Manchester.

Head of the Police Area Three, Assistant Commissioner of Police Derrick Cochrane, who noted that the men were not from Manchester, says the parish is battling an influx of migrant criminals, which has led to a spike in crime.
