No word on Ananda Alert move
2012-10-16 09:10:24 | (0 Comments)
The Community Development and Youth ministries are reportedly still trying to work out the best direction for the Ananda Alert system.
The Ananda Alert system is a mechanism used by the police to highlight missing children.
In June, Community Development Minister, Noel Arscott, said the government had agreed to have the system relocated to the youth ministry as it was believed that it would be best suited at that ministry.
Arscott had also disclosed that a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the relocation had been signed and the necessary arrangements were in place.
However, in a subsequent interview the youth minister, Lisa Hanna, suggested that the announcement was premature.
Contacted for an update, Arscott said both are still in discussions on the best move in relation to the Ananda alert system.
It was earlier indicated that the system would be placed with the Child Development Agency which falls under the youth ministry.
However, child rights advocates have said that the additional human and financial resources would need to be pumped into the agency, if it is to take on the Ananda alert system.
