OUR to examine wheeling rates

The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) says it has turned its attention to the creation of a regulatory framework for the effective and transparent implementation of wheeling rates.

The statement is contained in a ministry paper that was tabled in the House of Representatives today.

With wheeling, self-generators may transmit electricity across the national grid for their own use.

Phillip Paulwell, the energy minister, has said the introduction of wheeling is critical in reducing energy cost.
