Fogging tonight in corporate areas

2012-10-17 17:32:13 | (0 Comments)

The Ministry of Health will be fogging and spraying the corporate area this evening as part of its campaign to stem the rising number of dengue cases in Jamaica.

This morning the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Michael Coombs said there are now six suspected deaths as a result of the viral infection.

The latest figures also indicate that there are 210 new cases since Friday when the Ministry disclosed that 1,215 persons had contracted the virus.

The Director of Emergency, Disaster Management and Special Services in the Ministry of Health, Dr Marion Bullock DuCasse is appealing to citizens to open their doors and windows to allow the fogging chemicals to get in.

Dr Bullock DuCasse says the Ministry will ensure it gives advance notice to communities about when and where fogging is taking place.

During the last week, the Kingston & St. Andrew Health Department inspected over 1,500 premises and conducted fogging in 122 communities.

Kingston and St. Andrew accounts for about half of the total number of suspected cases of dengue fever.
