Chairman of the GraceKennedy Group, Douglas Orane says creating prosperity in Jamaica can be achieved if everyone, including the country’s political leaders, embrace a culture of transformation.

Orane says breaking the paradigm of limited thinking, increased productivity and an active civil society should drive this transformation.

Speaking in New York last evening, he said Jamaica will have to confront what he called the three major binding constraints of a high crime rate, deficiency in human capital and short-term policies that are economically unstable in the long run.

Orane says removing these binding constraints will require the indomitable will of everyone to do what needs to be done.

The GraceKennedy chairman says it will also require a more active civil society that is prepared to take action to ensure a completely transparent policy framing process starting with how their tax dollars were spent.
