Luana main road flooded

2012-10-20 20:40:28 | (0 Comments)

The police are advising that the Luana main road in Black River, St Elizabeth is now flooded following heavy rains.

Only heavy duty vehicles are able to travel along this route and drivers are being advised to proceed with caution.

The Met Service has issued a severe weather alert for Jamaica as a system over the central Caribbean continues to influence the region.

It said the area Low Pressure currently located over the central Caribbean has the potential for further development over the next 48 hours.

Satellite imagery indicates that the large area of disturbed weather associated with this system, covers much of the Caribbean Sea, south of Hispaniola

The forecast is for the system to drift slowly westward, closer to Jamaica and produce outbreaks of showers and thunderstorm over the island, tonight into tomorrow.

These showers which may be heavy at times are likely to be accompanied by strong, gusty winds.

Fishers and other marine interests, including those on the cays and banks, should exercise caution, due to deteriorating sea conditions over the next couple of days.
