Low pressure could become storm in 48 hours

2012-10-21 17:54:11 | (0 Comments)

The Meteorological Service says sections of the island are to experience increased rainfall and thunderstorms as an area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave lingers south east of the island.

The system, which is expected to be southwest of Jamaica on Tuesday, and move over the island on Wednesday, has a high chance of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours.

The Met Office forecasts that there will be occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon; while on Tuesday through to Thursday, there may be an increase in rainfall with possible stormy weather conditions developing by Wednesday.

Fishers and other marine interests, especially those on the cays and banks, are strongly advised to exercise caution as the system remains over the area.
