NewsKintyre residents urged to evacuate2012-10-23 12:09:13 | (0 Comments)
Member of Parliament for East Rural St. Andrew, Damion Crawford is urging constituents living along the Hope River bank in the Kintyre division, to prepare for evacuation by 3 p.m. today.
"With the volume of water expected it is possible for Hope River to overflow its banks. I am therefore appealing to the residents to pack and be ready to leave by 3 p.m. today," said Crawford in a press release. The warning comes as a result of Tropical Sandy which will begin to move across Jamaica from south to north on Wednesday, at which point the island will start experiencing hurricane conditions. More evacuation details will be issued throughout the course of the day. The evacuation warning comes against the backdrop of flooding last month in the community. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
