The Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) said that based on reports from the Meteorological Department and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, it seems unlikely that it will be able to open for business tomorrow, Wednesday October 24.

The Bank said that with regard to foreign currency trading, the weighted average exchange rate derived from trading today, Tuesday October 23, will be the applicable exchange rate for Customs and General Consumption Tax purposes for tomorrow and Thursday October 25 and until the next business day.

In a release, the Bank said it expects to resume normal business activity on Thursday, “but will continue to monitor the reports and advisories from relevant government agencies and will advise the public should there be any changes to this schedule.”
