An evacuation exercise has started in Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine as sea levels begin to rise and fears mount of a possible storm surge.

Parish Disaster Coordinator, Patricia Lewis, says the Jamaica Urban Transit Company is helping with the evacuation.

Meanwhile, residents of Nightingale Grove which usually floods in heavy rains have been ordered to evacuate.

"Although it is precautionary persons from Clifton and Glengoffe are in shelters at this time, we have been working all night and will continue monitoring," said Lewis.
