National Security Minister Peter Bunting says members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard will be going to the Pedro Cays tonight to check on those residents who had refused to leave.

Fisherfolk on the Pedro Cays have been urged to leave as Hurricane Sandy approaches, however, some have not.

Bunting says he’s not sure the JDF will be able to send a helicopter.

But he says the Coast Guard already has a boat at sea and is prepared to rescue those who are stranded or have encountered difficulties.

In the meantime, the National Security Minister says he has had no reports of major criminal activities across Jamaica within the last 48 hours.
