This is about 20 km (12 miles) north of Port Antonio, Portland, or 40 kilometres (30 miles) north-northeast of Kingston, Jamaica.

On this track, the centre of Sandy is expected to move over eastern Cuba tonight and the central Bahamas tomorrow.

Hurricane Sandy’s general motion is expected to continue today and tomorrow with an increase in forward speed.

The Met Office is advising residents that they should continue to expect extensive flooding and dangerous landslides, especially over central and eastern parishes as rain bands associated with Hurricane Sandy continue to affect Jamaica.

Tropical storm force winds will continue to be experienced this evening before gradually decreasing tonight.

The Met Office say periods of strong, gusty winds will also occur in thunderstorm activity.

The next Bulletin on Hurricane Sandy will be issued at 8:00 p.m. today.
