SEE: Photo Gallery - Picking up after Sandy However, she says customers in the worse affected areas are likely to remain out of power a while longer because of the extent of the damage, and challenges getting into those areas. Callum says the entire parishes of Portland, St Thomas, St Mary and St Ann lost power yesterday as a result of damage to critical elements of the transmission system. The parishes of St Catherine, Kingston and St Andrew were also badly affected. According to the JPS communications head, technical teams are working to repair the transmission infrastructure so that power can be restored to customers in these parishes. She says teams are continuing islandwide damage assessment and restoration work this morning with the focus on the eastern and northeastern parishes. “About 50 per cent of our customers were still without power as at 10 o’clock this morning, and that number is being reduced by the minute as we gradually bring our customers back on line,” said Callum. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
