Gunmen last night shot up a house in Hopeton, Manchester injuring a 10-year-old girl in her right leg as she slept.

The police say shortly after 1 a.m., the girl was asleep with her mother and other relatives when they were awakened by gunshots.

After the shooting ended, it was discovered that the girl was suffering from a gunshot wound.

She has since been admitted to hospital. However, her condition is not considered serious.

The police say several spent shells and war heads were taken from the scene.

In an earlier incident, patrons at a bar in Hatfield, near Mandeville, were held up and robbed at gun point of their cell phones and jewellery.

The bar was also robbed of cash and an estimated $50,000 worth of alcoholic beverages.

No arrest has so far been made by the police in both cases.

"We are carrying out relentless investigations in both cases with the hope that a breakthrough will be made shortly," said Assistant Commissioner, Derrick Cochrane, the Head of the Area Three Police.
