JPS: Electricity restored to 70% of customers

2012-10-26 19:15:58 | (0 Comments)

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) is reporting that as at 6 o’clock this evening it had restored power to over 70 per cent of its customers.

The JPS says almost all of its customers in western and southern parishes now have their regular power supply, and its expects to have close to 90 per cent of its customers in St Catherine and the Corporate Area back on the grid by later tonight.

However, the JPS says it continues to face challenges in the eastern parishes of St Thomas, Portland and St Mary which were affected by damage to a major transmission line.

The JPS says it will continue restoration efforts late into the night, and into the weekend.
