NewsODPEM to set up distribution points in Portland, St Mary2012-10-27 19:12:06 | (0 Comments)
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), says the airlifting of relief supplies this afternoon has been focussed on marooned communities in Portland.
ODPEM’s Director General Ronald Jackson says this follows the airlifting of food and other relief supplies to several communities in the mountainous border regions of St Andrew between yesterday and this morning. Mr Jackson says the flight crews had challenges reaching some areas, but adds that other attempts will be made by air and through the use of distribution centres to reach these and other affected communities. He says the plan is to set up distribution points in Norwich, Fruitful Vale and Manchioneal, in Portland, and in Oracabessa, St Mary. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
