NewsParliament postpones tribute to PJ Patterson2012-10-30 09:00:01 | (0 Comments) ![]() Patterson.... Jamaica's longest serving Prime Minister. A special joint sitting of both houses was slated to be held today to honour Patterson but the Parliament has advised that the occasion has been put off. The tribute to Patterson is part of the Jamaica 50 celebrations by the Houses of Parliament. A similar event was held for former Prime Minister Edward Seaga. Patterson has the distinction of being Jamaica’s longest serving Prime Minister having started his tenure in 1992 and retiring in 2006. His parliamentary career, which spanned almost four decades, saw him serving both as a Member of Parliament for the constituency of East Westmoreland and as a Senator.
