JPS worker electrocuted

2012-10-31 09:15:46 | (0 Comments)

Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) has confirmed that one of its contractors was electrocuted while working to restore power to customers.

However, the JPS did not provide any detail of the contractor’s identity or how the incident happened.

The company says another member of the team received electrical burns.

The incident happened in Discovery Bay, St. Ann, yesterday evening.

In the meantime, the JPS says approximately 36,000 customers were still without power last night.

It says the majority of these customers are in the parishes of Portland and St Mary, where the JPS faces challenges of access and extensive damage to its infrastructure.

It says about 24,000customers have been brought back onto the power grid since Monday.
