A Jamaican man is among 11 people who were arrested during a four-day immigration sweep in the US.

US officials say the 21-year-old Jamaican was convicted of felony child abuse.

They say the operation targeted criminal aliens who have been convicted of sex crimes.

A 57-year-old Haitian man, who was convicted of sexual battery and burglary of a structure, was also arrested.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations agencies say the other persons arrested are from Mexico, Cuba and Ecuador.

They say the arrests took place in the Florida counties of Manatee, Hillsborough, Hernando and Orange.
