Thousands of Jamaicans will have to wait a while longer before their electricity is restored.

The Jamaica Public Service, JPS says restoration work in Portland, St Mary and St Thomas is likely to continue into next week.

The power company’s regional director, East, Omar Sweeney says close to 25 thousand customers are still off the grid.

He says this is because the company’s progress is hampered by what he describes as enormous challenges such as difficult terrain and the lack of access to some communities.

In the meantime, JPS says it’s continuing its restoration efforts in Kingston & St Andrew, as well as sections of St Catherine and St Ann.
