| ![]() US president Barack Obama Incumbent President, Barack Obama, is battling Republican Mitt Romney for another four years in the White House. CNN's Poll of Polls, which is an average of eight non-partisan, national polls of likely voters, has Obama barely leading Romney - 49 per cent to 48 per cent. Many Jamaicans have been keenly watching the election campaign given the links between the United States and Jamaica. But Crawford says the election results will have implications for Jamaica, but he doesn’t expect the impact will be in relation to the economy. Crawford says Jamaica might be better off from a foreign policy standpoint if Obama wins, as he seems more open to negotiation and dialogue than Romney. But Crawford says it’s time Jamaica becomes more proactive and moves from a situation in which its fate depends on the winner of the US presidential elections.
