Luther Buchanan to head disaster committee

State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Luther Buchanan is to coordinate the government’s recovery and relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy.

The Prime Minister says Buchanan will work along with the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, ODPEM to ensure speedy and impartial implementation of the government’s efforts.

She says she has mandated Buchanan to work along with Ministries, departments and agencies for a period not exceeding six months, promising that the government will provide regular updates on the recovery process.

ODPEM will also co-ordinate the efforts of non-government organisations.
