NewsLawyer seeks release of UTech security guards2012-11-08 07:24:54 | (0 Comments) ![]() An alleged gay student is held by a security guard, while another beats him and another stands by. - Contributed Attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend says he will be filing a writ of habeas corpus before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court. The security guards, who have since been fired by Marksman Limited, have been in police custody without charge since Saturday. They were expected to face an identification parade yesterday but the witness did not turn up. The security guards were arrested after they were seen on video tape beating the student. The incident occurred last Thursday after the male student was set upon by a mob which alleged he was found in a compromising position with another male student. He reportedly ran and sought refuge in one of the guard rooms on the campus as the mob descended upon him. While in the security post, the security guards were caught on tape hitting the young man.
