NewsUTech to develop training programme for workers2012-11-08 07:44:16 | (0 Comments)
The University of Technology (UTech) says it’s moving to develop a special training programme for security guards and similar workers at the University.
The course is to be designed by the Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership at UTech. The institution says the course will include instruction on crime management, crowd control, diversity issues and customer service. According to UTech, it’s expected to provide the requisite skills to ensure proper safety and security on the campus. UTech says it’s proposed that all contracted workers must undergo this training before they are allowed to work on the campus. And it says the training will be open to security guards from other companies. Meanwhile, the university says it is continuing its investigation into the attack on the two students and that those involved will be dealt with in keeping with its policies. UTech also says it’s working with the two students who were chased to see how they can complete their studies in a safe environment. The University’s administration met with the student body yesterday to update them on the developments on the issue and on safety measures being implemented. It follows last week's mob attack on a student alleged to have been found in a compromising position. Two security guards have been arrested for assaulting the student.
