UN says Sandy will create food crisis in Haiti

2012-11-14 09:22:19 | (0 Comments)

The United Nations in Haiti says 1.5 million people remain at risk of not having proper access to food in 2013 because of the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy and other natural disasters.

It says the storm added to the devastation caused by a drought earlier this year.

At least 54 people were killed by Hurricane Sandy in Haiti.

It’s reported that an estimated 21,000 people were left homeless by the hurricane, which also destroyed at least 70 percent of yam, corn and banana crops in the south of the country.
