The Leader of the Opposition, Andrew Holness believes Jamaica’s political system can be more effective if both parties get rid of their superficial differences and collaborate in the national interest.

Yesterday, former Prime Minister, PJ Patterson bemoaned what he feels is the adversarial approach to politics, saying it should be replaced with a consensual form which embraces the best ideas.

However, the leader of the Jamaica Labour Party says competitive politics will always have diametrically opposing positions.

However, he says, using what he described as structural competition can resolve political conflicts.

Mr Holness believes the Parliament provides a forum for his party to work with the Government.
