UN expert says Vision 2030 flawed

2012-11-15 08:09:41 | (0 Comments)

The Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) says his organisation has noted a significant flaw in Jamaica’s Vision 2030 plan.

Vision 2030 is Jamaica’s plan for achieving developed country status by the year 2030.

But Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi says a report has found that the plan lacks coherence and treats individual services sectors in an ad hoc and fragmented manner.

He says there should be linkages in the services sector in areas such as tourism and the creative industries.

He has pledged that UNCTAD will work with the Government to make the Vision 2030 national development plan more integrated and to see which projects can be moved forward.
