Officials at the Customs Department are to seek a meeting with the Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA) to discuss the concerns of exporters about delays in getting their shipments to overseas buyers.

Yesterday, the JEA said some of its members are losing goods as well as business when their containers are detained by customs officials searching for contraband.

They explained that the process is usually lengthy and often results in the containers missing their departure times.

This has left them frustrated and in search of answers.

Last night the Customs Department said it would be reaching out to the exporters to have the matter addressed.
