The bail application for Corporal Dwayne Smart, the cop charged with the murder of a pregnant woman in St Thomas, was put off today when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court.

Smart is to return to court next week Friday when the application will be made.

The court was informed today that the ballistics report is outstanding.

Smart is charged with the September 1 shooting death of 27-year-old Kay-Ann Lamont in Yallahs Square.

It is reported that Lamont and the policeman got into an altercation after he attempted to arrest her for using indecent language.

During the scuffle, the pregnant woman was shot twice in the head, reportedly by the policeman.

Her sister was also shot and injured in the incident.

Attorney-at-law Valerie Neita Robertson is representing Smart.
