LIME is warning customers to be on the alert for fraudsters who are attempting to acquire their usernames, passwords and credit card information by posing as a trustworthy source.

The telecommunications firm says these individuals are involved in what is known as phishing fraud via telephone.

LIME explains that the fraudsters call potential victims from an unidentified number, pretending to have a solution to prevent any vulnerability to the person’s computer operating system or any other threats to the customer's system.

LIME says fraudster get victims to download corrupt software they claim will enhance their victims’ computer performance and from there gain access to sensitive information which they use to fleece the bank accounts of the customers.
