NewsPolice raise threat level after gang leader killed2012-11-19 17:44:46 | (0 Comments)
The Police High Command has raised the threat level for police personnel operating in the Corporate Area to extreme.
This means that cops are facing imminent attacks and should exercise great care and pay special attention to their personal safety and the safety of their colleagues. The threat applies especially to personnel in the St Andrew Central Division. Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Glenmore Hinds, says the raising of the threat level follows yesterday’s fatal shooting of Delroy Scott, otherwise called ‘Banton’, in Bedward Gardens. He says Banton was the leader of the Banton gang which operates in the Bedward Gardens area of the St. Andrew Central Division. According to DCP Hinds, police personnel in the area have been receiving repeated threats on their lives since the fatal shooting. And he says the threats are being taken very seriously. The Deputy Commissioner says police personnel stationed in the St. Andrew Central Division and those travelling within the division should be extremely vigilant, whether they are on or off duty.
