Chief Executive Officer of West Indies Alumina Company (WINDALCO), Leonid Starvitsky is to reappear in court on March 28 next year, to answer to breaches of the National Conservation Authority and the Wild Life Protection Act.

The case was mentioned in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green.

At that time the magistrate informed the representatives from the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), that all statements and witnesses in the matter must be present when the case is next called up.

It was also revealed that an interpreter is needed before the matter can be tried.

Starvitsky was taken to court by NEPA, after raw effluent was discovered in a water tributary in St Catherine in July last year.

Investigations revealed that the effluent was discharged from the WINDALCO operations in St Catherine.

And as CEO, Starvitsky was summoned to answer on behalf of the company for the environmental breach.

He has made numerous court appearances and has maintained his innocence throughout.
