NewsPetrojam slapped with enforcement notice2012-11-21 16:23:52 | (0 Comments) ![]() The Petrojam oil refinery in Kingston - file. The notice was sent off this morning, just over one week after the discharge of noxious fumes from the state-owned oil refinery in the vicinity of the Spanish Town and Hagley Park roads in St Andrew. NEPA’s Director of legal services and enforcement, Robert Collie, said the notice outlines steps and procedures Petrojam should institute to remedy the situation. According to him, in some instances the refinery has been given one week to correct some of the issues, and up to 30 days to deal with others. NEPA’s actions are in keeping with a promise made by the Environment Minister, Robert Pickersgill, who said that strong enforcement action will be taken against Petrojam. It is the second time in less than six months that noxious fumes have been released from the oil refinery.
