Ward of the State commits suicide at Horizon

The Department of Correctional Services is reporting that a female ward of the state is believed to have committed suicide this evening at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre, Spanish Town Road, Kingston.

The department says the ward was pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital just after 7:00 p.m. 

Her name is being withheld pending the notification of her family members.

Meanwhile , the Denham Town Police and the Department of Correctional Services are investigating the matter.
