A policeman was shot and injured and another man fatally shot during a confrontation in the Red Hills Road area of St Andrew this morning.

The identity of the policeman has not been released, but a statement from Director of Communication for the Jamaica Constabulary Force Karl Angell says he is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

The dead man was still unidentified at news time.

Angell gave no details of the shooting, but says a Glock-19 pistol with three rounds has been seized.

He says the shooting has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations.
