The Energy Minister, Phillip Paulwell says Petrojam will be taking disciplinary action against its employees responsible for the release of noxious fumes in Portmore, St. Catherine in June this year.

Paulwell made the disclosure in the parliament, this afternoon.

However, he did not say exactly what action would be taken.

Earlier this year, Petrojam called in the police after the environment minister reported that the fumes may have been the result of illegal activity and the refinery which could not account for 260 barrels of petroleum products.

In sharing the details of Petrojam’s final report on the incident, Paulwell said the state-owned oil refinery is seeking legal advice.

He said he has also spoken to the Petrojam’s board about getting the Jamaica Defence Force involved in certain aspects of Petrojam’s operations.

Two weeks ago, Petrojam was again identified as the source of another release of noxious fumes in sections of the Corporate Area.
