Mexico waives visa requirement for Jamaicans

Jamaicans can now travel to Mexico without a visa.

The Embassy of Mexico in Jamaica announced that the waiver took effect this month.

The embassy says Jamaicans travelling to Mexico as visitors can stay in the country for up to 180 days.

It notes that this will allow Jamaicans to carry out activities in Mexico such as tourism, sports, business, medical treatments, and attending conferences.

The embassy says at the time of admission, Immigration Authorities may request documents related to the purpose of travel.

The embassy has expressed confidence that its decision to waive visas for Jamaicans will strengthening relations between Jamaica and Mexico.

Meanwhile, the Mexican Embassy says persons wishing to study for more than six months, establish temporary or permanent residence, or engage in profitable activities, should contact its Offices to obtain requirements for visa.
