The Head of the Mustard Seed Communities, Monsignor Gregory Ramkissoon will meet with the Youth Minister next Tuesday, to discuss his proposal for his charity to temporarily house teenage girls who are in conflict with the law.

This morning Monsignor Ramkisson’s office confirmed that the meeting will take place on December 4 at 10 o’ clock at the Minister’s office.

The Catholic priest has offered his charity’s help, following the reported suicide of 16-year-old Vanessa Wint, who was a ward at the Horizon Remand Centre in Kingston.

Civil society and advocacy groups say Vanessa should not been there since it’s an adult facility.

The youth minister has come under heavy criticism from those groups who have repeatedly stated that the practice of housing children in adult lock-ups is against the law and a contravention of international conventions.
