2012-11-30 11:11:45 | (0 Comments)

In a poll compiled by Forbes magazine, hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre was named the world’s highest paid musician of 2012.

From May 2011 to May 2012, the rapper and producer netted £68.75m largely due to the popularity of his Beats by Dre headphones and accessories collection.

Real name Andre Romelle Young, the 47-year-old Californian earned £13m more than second placed Pink Floyd member Roger Waters.

“He collected $100m pretax when handset maker HTC paid $300m for a 51 per cent stake in the company last year, at the beginning of our scoring period; he and his partners later bought back half of what they sold,” explained Forbes’ Zack O’Malley Greenburg.

The Forbes top 10 earning musicians of 2012 are as follows:
1) Dr. Dre - £68.75m
2) Roger Waters - £55m
3) Sir Elton John - £50m
4) U2 - £48.75m
5) Take That - £43.13m
6) Bon Jovi - £37.5m
7) Britney Spears - £36.25m
8=) Sir Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift - £35.63m
10=) Justin Bieber and Toby Keith - £34.38m.
