Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

Two women who are charged with embezzlement have pleaded guilty.

Shawnette Ross from May Pen, Clarendon was granted bail in the sum of $300,000 while her co-accused Carolee Lewis of Spanish Town, St Catherine was offered bail in the sum of $150,000.

The two appeared before Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

In applying for bail attorneys-at-law Hugh Faulkner and Patrick Bailey told the court their clients have steady addresses and clean criminal records.

The women were ordered to return to court on January 22 next year.

It was outlined in court that Ross who was employed to a Supreme Ventures outlet along Young Street Spanish Town stole two million dollars from the business.

It’s further reported that Lewis who was her co-worker helped to cover up the crime.

Following investigations by the police the women were arrested and later charged.
