Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

Residents in Rose Hall in Linstead St. Catherine are angry this afternoon, even as they mourn the death of a two-year-old girl and the injuring of her sister following an attack by a pit bull.

The dead girl has been identified as Ronica Gregory.

It’s reported that last night Ronica and her sister were walking through a yard, when they were reportedly attacked by a dog.

Our news centre was told by residents that the pit bull latched onto the child's neck and bit her to death.

The police say the two girls were taken to hospital were Ronica was pronounced dead and her sister treated for injuries she sustained during the attack.

Residents have expressed concerned about their safety.

Meanwhile, it’s understood that the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has taken an interest in the incident.

Our news centre was told that this is the second time Ronica was attacked by a dog in the community.

They say the first incident is now before the courts.
