2012-12-06 16:34:24 | (0 Comments)

The Ministry of Agriculture is to roll out a $125 million loan programme for Irish potato farmers to boost production.

The Ministry said the funds are being made available through a loan from the People’s Cooperative Banks and the Glut Management programme.

It said under the initiative, loans will be offered at an interest rate of nine per cent.

And some $20 million will also be made available to farmers in the form of grants.

The agriculture ministry said as part of the programme, farmers will be provided with input support such as fertilizer as well as help with land preparation.
