St George's retain Olivier Shield

2012-12-08 17:58:45 | (0 Comments)

St George's College added the Olivier Shield to their trophy cabinet for a second straight year, following today's 1-1 draw with Glenmuir High at Brancourt in Clarendon.

The North Street, Kingston-based school took the Shield 5-2 on aggregate following their emphatic 4-1 win in Wednesday's first leg at the Constant Spring Sports Complex.

It was that man again, daCosta Cup hero Newton Henry, who was in the right place at the right time for Glenmuir, when he volleyed home in the 78th minute.

Then in what was truly a comical moment, Glenmuir goalkeeper Dane Chambers was as surprised as all the spectators when he miscontrolled a shot from St George's Zhelano Barnes in the 88th minute and the ball ran across the goal-line and into the back of the net to level the score at 1-1.
