The Portland police are reporting that three civilians and one policeman were this morning shot and injured and a gunman shot dead during a shoot-out in Port Antonio.

The civilians – an eight-year-old boy, an elderly woman and an elderly man – were bystanders during a confrontation between the policeman and the gunman.

The police say the young boy is in stable condition following a surgical operation.

The man, the woman and the policeman are also said to be in stable condition.

The police incident has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
