DPP to intervene in Coudray-Greaves case

The intervention of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), is to be sought in the case involving the taxi driver charged, for the murder of Trinidadian teacher Michelle Coudray-Greaves.

When the case was called up in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning, it was put off until January 8 next year, as DNA and forensics results as well as phone records are still outstanding.

The court was told that the DPP Paula Llewellyn will be approached in an effort to get the orthodontist to release the dental records for Coudray Greaves.

It is understood that the orthodontist is holding on to the records until he is paid.

Forty-five year-old Ivan Taylor has been in custody since June for the school teacher’s murder.

Meanwhile, Resident Magistrate Sandra Wong-Small denied a request by Taylor’s lawyer that the bail amount of $200,000 be lowered.

The judge also refused to offer Taylor bail on his own surety as he’s not from St. James and no one seems to know him.

Michelle Coudray-Greaves went missing on June 1, two days after returning to Jamaica from vacation in Trinidad.

Her burnt remains were found in a cane field close to Montego Bay on June 11.
