NewsSamuel Fitz-Henley a relentless pioneer - Holness2012-12-16 18:03:45 | (0 Comments)
Opposition and Jamaica Labour Party leader Andrew Holness has extended condolences to the family and friends of noted educator Samuel Fitz-Henley.
Fitz-Henley died at the University Hospital of the West Indies yesterday after a long illness. Noting the contribution Fitz-Henley made to the education system, Holness said he was a relentless pioneer in empowering thousands of Jamaicans to make better for themselves. According to Opposition leader, answering the call to service to help educate a nation is a noble act. Fitz-Henley was the founder and principal of the Fitz-Henley Secretarial Institute, which helped thousands of Jamaicans get training in shorthand, typing and secretarial duties. He was honoured by the Jamaican Government in 2005 with the Order of Distinction. He has also received awards from the United States, England and Australia for his contribution to their education sectors.
