The Labour and Social Security Minister Derrick Kellier has indicated that changes are coming to the Government’s social welfare initiative, the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH).

According to Kellier, his ministry has taken note of the shortcomings in the programme and efforts are being made to improve them.

He said the beneficiary identification system in particular is being revised and a submission is to be made to the Cabinet for approval.

More than 30,000 families are on PATH.

Meanwhile, the labour and social security minister, said his ministry will be undertaking the mandatory re-certification of families, who have been on PATH for more than four years.

He said that process will begin in February next year.

Since its introduction in 2002, 410,000 beneficiaries in 135,000 families have been registered under PATH.
