NewsFINSAC Entrepreneurs accuse Gov’t of cover-up2012-12-20 12:38:57 | (0 Comments) ![]() Association president Yola Gray-Baker - Ian Allen/Photographer The Association of Finsac's Entrepreneurs is claiming that there is a deliberate attempt by the Government to cover up the Finsac report. At a press conference this morning, association president Yola Gray-Baker claimed she has received information that high-ranking government officials have taken a decision not to publish the report. The Finsac Commission completed its work last year and was expected to provide a final report by August this year. However, the commission said it needed more funds to put the report together and have it submitted to the parliament. Earlier this year Finance Minister, Dr Peter Phillips said the government will not be providing any further funds to the Finsac Commission. He said although the Commission has been engaged since 2009 and has cost the country some $65 million, it’s yet to produce a report. Gray Baker stressed that the Finsac report is critical to allowing the nation to know what really happen during the 1990's financial meltdown. She said the report will uncover those who engaged in criminal activities and provide information that might lead to their prosecution. The association president said the organisation will be seeking a meeting with the finance minister, to discuss the finance report and to press its case for the funds to be released so that the document can be made public.
