A man was killed, his crony shot and injured and a policeman also shot in an alleged shootout on deCarteret Road in Mandeville, Manchester this morning. According to police reports, a dance was in progress at premises on deCarteret Road around 3 a.m., when a police team arrived on the scene and soon after engaged three men. A gun battle reportedly ensued during which Laurent Steve Lawrence was killed on the spot and his cousin, Wayne Campbell, otherwise called Little Beer injured. In the exchange, a policeman was also shot. He and Campbell were taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital. The injuries of the policeman are not considered life threatening, but it is understood that Campbell is in serious condition. A gun was reportedly recovered from the scene.
